Free Mental Health Resources in Taiwan: A Complete Guide for Scam Victims and Anyone Seeking Support
Many of our clients find it difficult to express their feelings to family or friends after being scammed. If you are having a hard time handling the emotional weight of the event, it is ok and often necessary to seek mental help. We know that after being scammed, it is also common to lack extra funds—many families cannot afford the expense of therapy. If you are struggling financially, we encourage you to use the free mental health resources available in Taiwan.
The following organizations are there for our clients who need to talk:
For Everyone:
The Teacher Chang Foundation 財團法人張老師基金會
Teacher Chang provides a phone helpline, email-based counseling, and online chat consultations. You can converse anonymously with trained volunteers for a brief session and, if you want, you can request the same volunteer again in your next session.
Service Hours(Service hours may vary depending on local staffing.):
Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, 2:00 PM–5:00 PM, and 6:00 PM–9:30 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 2:00 PM–5:00 PM

The Dharma Drum Humanities and Social Improvement Foundation (DDHSIF) 法鼓山人文社會基金會
The DDHSIF, a Buddhist organization, provides free online counseling to anyone dealing with emotional distress, strained parent-child relationships, psychological trauma, career difficulties, religion-related issues, and any other kind of stress or emotional pressure. Their hotline is staffed with trained volunteers who can help talk you through whatever difficult situation you are facing.
Intake Process:
Make a reservation using DDHSIF’s official LINE account.
A volunteer will be assigned to you based on your needs and availability.
Chat with your volunteer counselor in an online session via Google Meet.

Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM–12:30 PM, 1:30 PM–5:00 PM, and 6:30 PM–9:00 PM

For Low to Moderate Income Individuals:
FarHugs Charity Hug Program 抱抱心身醫學 FarHugs「公益抱抱」服務
FarHugs allows patients to schedule in-person and online appointments with counselors through their online mental health platform. People who meet the Taiwanese government’s standard for having a low to moderate income can receive one free 50-60 minute counseling session per month through FarHugs.
Intake Process:
Contact FarHugs customer service to express your interest in the Charity Hugs Program through the FarHugs official LINE account (LINE ID: @olw7222z).
Download the FarHugs App and create an account.
FarHugs customer service will send you an application form after processing your request.
Complete the form and return it to customer service on LINE.
If your application is approved, your account will be granted Charity Hugs eligibility, and customer service will notify you. If not approved, you will not receive additional notice.
Once you’ve been approved, close and reopen the FarHugs App, then click the “I want to book” button on the homepage to start using Charity Hugs.
For Elders:
The Stella Matutina Social Welfare Foundation’s Old Friends Hotline
財團法人天主教曉明社會福利基金會,老朋友專線
The Stella Matutina Social Welfare Foundation operates the Old Friends Hotline, which provides a place for elders and their caretakers to seek support and resources. The Old Friend Hotline provides on-demand phone counseling services for elders.

Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–6:00 PM

Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Mental Health Hotline for Men
台灣衛生福利部男性關懷專線
The Taiwanese government’s Ministry of Health and Welfare provides a hotline for men of all ages to discuss whatever issues are troubling them with trained staff members. This hotline is open all year, even on holidays and weekends.
